My motto in college was “write what you know, do what you don’t,” and I tried to live it out for years.
I spent my twenties and early thirties hopping around the country, so I can tell you about the best bookstores in Ithaca, Los Angeles, Brooklyn, New Orleans, Chicago, and Jackson Hole.
After earning my BA from Cornell University, I supported TV writers and producers on some shows you’ve heard of (and maybe even seen). After Los Angeles, I earned my MFA in Creative Writing from NYU. I’ve also taught high school and college students how to write—and how to enjoy it. Currently, I’m a content strategist for a medium-sized organization.
I’ve been an assistant, a tutor, and a short order cook. I’ve had to do all sorts of stuff for work, from researching “ways to blow up a warehouse” (it was for a TV show!) to making breakfast burritos for impatient Angelinos to parking Samuel L. Jackson’s car without scratching it. I’ve lived a lot of lives through work and travel and I hope to live even more in my stories.
